The Therapeutic Fostering Qualification is a Level 2 course designed to equip foster parents and professionals with the knowledge and skills to support children who have experienced trauma.

Through flexible online learning, the programme develops understanding of behaviour, attachment, and therapeutic parenting approaches, helping learners create safe, nurturing home environments.

Please note: This qualification is to be used alongside the Therapeutic Fostering Assessment.

The Therapeutic Fostering Qualification is designed to support foster parents and professionals working with children who have experienced early life trauma.
Delivered through flexible online learning, the programme equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic home environment.
The course supports learners to understand the underlying causes of behaviour and respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.

  • Applicants who are applying to become foster parents
  • Current foster parents supporting children who have experienced trauma
  • Supporting professionals working within fostering agencies

This programme forms part of the Therapeutic Fostering Assessment (TFA).

Please note: This is a Level 2 qualification designed to support fostering knowledge and practice. It contributes towards fostering development frameworks but is not an Ofqual-regulated qualification.
