Challenges parents face

Parenting can be challenging, particularly when a child is experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, behavioural difficulties, sensory needs or the effects of difficult experiences.

Some children struggle to explain what they are feeling, and their distress may show through behaviour, withdrawal, anger, avoidance, sleep difficulties or difficulties with everyday routines.

Trauma-informed approaches help parents look beyond the behaviour, understand what may be happening beneath the surface and respond in ways that support safety, connection, emotional regulation and resilience.
