Trauma‑Informed Training for Fostering & Kinship Services
Foster parent and kinship carers support children who may have experienced trauma, loss, abuse, neglect, disrupted attachments, separation and significant changes in their lives.
Traditional parenting approaches do not always work for children whose nervous systems have been shaped by fear, uncertainty and survival. Children in foster and kinship care may communicate their experiences through behaviour, relationships and emotional responses rather than words.
Trauma-informed training helps foster parents, carers and professionals understand what may be behind a child's behaviour and provides practical tools to respond with empathy, structure, safety and therapeutic care.
